Location: 1st floor of our home
Explain your creative space: It started out as a small wannabe music studio in the back office
with ProTools, a digital drum kit and some small amps. Many a jam has happened back there! Then
we grew a set and brought out the big amps and real kit. It was on in the dining room! The jams
turned into bands!!!
Reasons why I love my space: Our instruments are the first thing we see when we open the door after
work. We pass by both of our creative spaces multiple times a day, which constantly reminds us to
keep music as a focus. Also, our spaces are very comfortable for other musicians. People who
haven't played for years get the urge to grab an instrument and often come back with their own.
How I personalize it: We personalize the back office with family photos, art, collectible toys and
other sources of inspiration.
We set up the dining room so we can monitor who is approaching the doors during our loud
practices and keep an eye on the Phillies games as well. The stocked minibar doesn't hurt either!!!
What I use my space for: Squirley Monkey practices (our band) / recording / experimenting
Favorite item:
For Brian it's his computer in the back office which is loaded with ProTools recording software
and in the dining room his Tascam 24 track that doubles as a PA for live vocals.
For Miki, the laptop in front of the digital kit is key. With headphones, practice can happen at
any hour. In the dining room it's her vintage Ludwig bell cymbal.
Thanks go out to member, Miki Lyn Onorato, who was nice enough to share her creative space with us! Look at all of those instruments (and cute dog!)....Don't forget to check out Miki's page and give her band a couple of listens!
